Benefit Account Executive II

Mahowald Insurance Agency, an Independent Agency in Central MN, is looking to hire a full-time, benefit eligible Benefit Account Executive II. This position is accountable for the thorough, accurate and timely maintenance, procurement and service of benefit accounts in conjunction with the appropriate Employee Benefit Advisors. This position is responsible for providing input on strategic planning to ensure customer service standards are being met. The Benefits Account Executive models agency best practices on a daily basis to improve departmental efficiency and productivity.

Duties and Skills
• Demonstrate excellence in action by exemplifying MIA Core Values on a daily basis.
• Independently maintains and services benefits accounts including but not limited to renewals, service reviews, employee education, claims, compliance, etc.
• Assists Advisors on procurement of new benefits clients.
• Demonstrate professional and timely communication with clients according to best practice service standards.
• Provide professional consultation to clients related employee benefit programs and compliance.
• Consistently explores with the Advisor cross-selling opportunities to increase agency opportunities.
Initiates the scheduling of necessary meetings between Advisors and appropriate benefit team members regarding client needs.
• Demonstrate expertise on insurance markets, funding types and carrier fits.
• Actively engages in learning opportunities to facilitate continued professional growth.
• Continually monitor insurance trends and communicate with clients, Advisors, and the Benefits department.
• Develop strong working relationship with Advisors, Benefit Account Specialist, other Benefit Account Executives, Department Director, Insurance Carrier Representatives, and Vendor Representatives.
• Provide support and guidance to Account Specialists and other Account Executives.
• Ability to make strategic decisions based upon experience and understanding of individual client needs.
• Actively participate in benefit department team meetings to ensure departmental goals are being met.
• Provide insight and recommendations on continuous improvement projects within the benefits department, and agency wide initiatives.
• Demonstrate service standards to ensure a high quality customer experience.
• Provide guidance for the implementation of workflow processes to ensure efficient and accurate completion of duties.

Qualification Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
• Must maintain active MN Life/Health insurance license
• Holds benefit industry and/or HR designation
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and training skills
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to solve problems effectively and independently
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and document management software
• Ability to handle confidential information
• Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to prioritize and meet timelines
